Patient’s family members heckle Bytco Hospital’s superintendent & other staffers after altercation over treatment

Nashik: The superintendent of the NMC-managed new Bytco Hospital, Dr Jitendra Dhaneshwar, and a few other staffers were allegedly heckled by the family members of a patient admitted to the health hub on Tuesday, following an altercation over treatment.The hospital staffers staged a protest on the health hub premises for two hours after the incident. The health department of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has lodged a complaint with the Nashik Road police against the patient's son.An NMC health official said the patient, who suffered injuries in a accident, was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital. "We did his x-ray and started the treatment. His CT scan was to be conducted at the hospital, but his family members said they would take him for the scan elsewhere. When a hospital staffer told them that the CT scan would be done at the hospital after the centre opens, they got into a brawl with the staffers. Later, the family members heckled the superintendent of the hospital and other staffers."On the complaint of Dr Dhaneshwar, the Nashik Road police registered an FIR for the offences punishable under sections 132, 115, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the patient's son.The police said, according to the complainant, the accused person, whose father was undergoing treatment at the third floor of the Bytco Hospital, came into the emergency ward and started arguing with the staffers over the CT scan. "He also heckled the three security guards and two other staffers present in the ward, preventing them from discharging their duties," the police said.On Tuesday evening, additional municipal commissioner Smita Zagade and in-charge of the NMC's health department Dr Tanaji Chavan met commissioner of police Sandeep Karnik who deployed three police personnel at the hospital."Considering the demand of the doctors at the Bytco Hospital, we have provided three police personnel on the hospital premises. These three personnel have been given from the Ganapati Bandobast. Once the festive period is over, we plan to provide four personnel at the hospital," said DCP Monica Raut.
