The sitting president of the Bar Association of Nashik, Nitin Thakre, was re-elected to the post in the elections held here on Wednesday.

NASHIK: The sitting president of the Bar Association of Nashik, NitinThakre, was re-elected to the post in the elections held here on Wednesday.
Thakre bagged 1,025 votes of the total 2,152 polled, against his closest rival Dilip Vanarase's 995. There were five candidates in the fray for the president's post.
Balasaheb Adke elected vice-president with 776 votes, defeating his closest rival Chandrakant Kulkarni, who got 743 votes.

Among others, Suresh Niphade elected secretary in a straight fight against Bhausaheb Dhikle. Niphade bagged 1,163 votes, against Dhikle's 968 votes.
Jalindar Tadge won the election for the post of joint secretary with 848 votes.
His opponents included Nilesh Patil (545 votes), Sanjay Rokade (129), Seetaram Aher (317) and Uday Raje (295).
Mangala Shejwal won the election to the post of joint secretary, reserved for women, with 1,064 votes.
Thakre is also the chairperson of Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj.
Thakre said he would make efforts in solving the parking problem on the court premises. Apart from this, washrooms for women lawyers on the court premises was also one of his priorities, while he would also be taking up the issue of getting at least two acres of land from the government on the west side of the court premises to set up an extension building for the court and also to bring in smaller courts to the same premises.
He said that he would also explore the possibility of evolving an insurance scheme, one like mediclaim, for the lawyers.
