Poll row in Maharashtra: Fadnavis hits out at opposition over unopposed corporator wins

NASHIK: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was in Dhule on Tuesday, criticised the opposition for objecting to corporation poll candidates winning unopposed in some wards. He said opposition parties treat unopposed victories differently depending on who benefited from them. "So far, 35 MPs have been elected unopposed in the country, and 33 of them were elected when Congress was in office. Democracy was thriving then. However, when corporators get elected unopposed, it becomes 'murder of democracy'," said Fadnavis at a gathering.
