"Data related to character and passport verification, guests registering at hotels and lodges will be collected. Currently, the information is registered with police stations. But, the common portal will help to access information of all police stations by others ," he said.
The online module will help to reduce the time and manual effort it takes to gather information. Details like call data record, daily crime report and other daily exchange of information would also be done through the system.
In the future, the system would help in registering information of tenants and landlords, vehicle sales, mobile SIM card dealers and customers visiting cyber cafe. The software will also be built made application-based to have mobility to access data by senior officials.
"Citizens will not need to go from pillar-to-post as the required information for documents will be available at respective police station level," Jaganathan added.
Thirty computers and other structures have been raised through the funds provided by MLA Apurva Hiray.
