NMC appoints 7 garden inspectors to fill vacancies
Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finalized seven candidates for the posts of garden inspectors to be recruited on an honorarium basis for a period of six months.
Apart from the seven selected candidates, the NMC has put out a list of 17 waitlisted candidates for the post.
The civic body has 12 posts of garden inspectors, which have been lying vacant due to a lack of recruitment following superannuation or voluntary retirement.

In 2018, the NMC appointed 10 garden inspectors on an honorarium basis, but five of them left the job.
At present, the civic body has five garden inspectors working on an honorarium basis. “NMC had received 410 applications for seven posts. A total of 45 eligible candidates were shortlisted for interviews, which were held last week.
Seven candidates from the shortlisted 45 have been selected,” NMC officials said.
The NMC has a total of 7,090 approved posts, of which over 2,600 posts are vacant. At present, the civic body has only 4,490 staff and around 20-30 staff retire each month.

The recruitment of essential services like fire and health departments of the civic body will be done on a priority basis.
The civic body has also finalized a private IT company to carry out the recruitment process for all the vacant posts. The process is also expected to start shortly.

NMC appoints consultant for DPR of 100 EV buses
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has appointed a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the introduction of 100 electric buses under the PM E-bus Seva scheme. The DPR is expected to be ready by the first week of October. The buses will be procured through private agencies and operated for a period of 12 years. The Centre will provide a grant of Rs24 per km for 12 years, with the remaining amount to be paid by the NMC.
OUAT to appoint faculty soon for vacant posts on deputation
The Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in India is facing challenges in filling vacant dean and faculty member positions. Due to the non-receipt of valid applications, the university has decided to invite applications from other universities and institutions in the country. Several top posts, including deans of different colleges, have remained vacant for the past two years. The university is taking steps to fill the vacancies, but the use of guest faculty and retirees has caused resentment among regular faculty members and fresh candidates.
