NMC appoints 7 garden inspectors to fill vacancies
66% of engineers' posts lying vacant
A shortage of engineers in the state government departments in Bihar has left 66% of positions vacant, according to data from the Bihar Engineering Services Association (BESA). Out of the total of 16,293 sanctioned positions, only 5,470 are currently filled, leaving a vacancy of 10,823 engineers. The situation is particularly alarming for senior positions, with 65 out of 69 chief engineer posts and all 11 engineer-in-chief posts remaining vacant. The government has been relying on existing engineers to take on additional responsibilities, resulting in heavy workloads and inefficiencies. The most affected departments are water resources, rural works, and road construction.

The university is taking steps to fill the vacancies, but the use of guest faculty and retirees has caused resentment among regular faculty members and fresh candidates.
