Nashik witnesses 17 house break-ins this month

NASHIK: The police commissionerate has witnessed 17 incidents of house break-in this year since the New Year, the maximum registered at Gangapur with five cases, followed by two each at Sarkarwada, Panchavati, Indiranagar, Nashik Road and Upnagar and one each at Satpur and Adgaon.
Among them, four alone were reported on Saturday in which cash and articles worth over Rs 4 lakh were reportedly stolen.

Assistant commissioner of police, zone I, Ganesh Shinde said, "We have started conducting meetings at the police station level. At the same time, we have also started checking criminals who have been involved in cases of house break-ins. Preventive measures are underway to ensure that the crime is controlled."
Jewellery worth Rs 1.90 lakh was stolen in a house break-in on Friday at Anand Vihar Apartment, Anandwan Colony, Yeolekar Mala. Unidentified burglars entered the house of 33-year-old Yogesh Omprakash Parik and stole jewellery weighing 190 grams.
Parik, a grape trader, stated in his complaint that he was out for work at Vinchur and his wife Anupama had left their residence around 1 pm. Around 6.30 pm when she returned, she found the door of the flat open and articles inside the wooden cupboard strewn in the house. She immediately called Parik to inform him about the incident.
Parik said that unidentified burglars had entered their house by breaking the latch and lock. Sarkarwada police are investigating the case.

On the same day, Rs 70,000 was stolen in a house break-in at Indiranagar. Brijesh Patel of Kamodnagar, S Avenue, Indiranagar, alleged in his complaint that burglars broke into two flats at Daksha Avenue and Kalash Residency Society; and stole the money.
Apart from these two cases, two other offences of house break-in were registered in different parts of the city on Saturday. In an offence registered with the Sarkarwada police, Rs 1.71 lakh cash was stolen in a house break-in at President Tower, Chandak Circle, Tidke Colony between 12.30 pm and 5 pm. Raju Lakhalgaonkar (48) said that unidentified burglars entered his house by breaking the latch and lock of his flat and stole the cash kept inside his house.
In another burglary at Yamuna Society, Mhasrool, Dindori Road, Rs 5,500 was stolen. Mohini Atul Bhagare stated in her complaint on Saturday that unidentified burglars entered her house from the rear side and stole cash and other documents around 11 pm on January 16.
