rural police are continuously taking action against hookah parlours located on the outskirts of the city, and over the past two months. Around 17 raids have been conducted at various restaurants and food joints that are illegally running hookah parlours.
On Thursday, the special squad of

SP Sachin Patil

raided two joints in

Chandsi

, falling under the Nashik taluka police station. Police seized hookah pots, tobacco flavours etc. worth Rs 4,000 from one joint and similar articles worth Rs 14,900 from the other joint in

Jalalpur

.
The concerned owners of the food joints have been booked under relevant sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003. SP Sachin Patil of Nashik (rural) said many food joints have set up illegal hookah parlours at their establishments. Nonetheless, whenever the police get information on any illegal hookah parlour, the concerned joint is raided and hookah articles are seized. The managers or joint owners concerned are booked.
The rural police are regularly raiding places like Chandsi, Jalalpur, Govardhan,

Savargaon

and the stretch between Govardhan to Girnare road, located on the outskirts of the Nashik city and falling in the jurisdiction of Nashik taluka police station.
