Nashik city residents demand urgent repairs of city’s roads
Nashik: Potholes on numerous city roads, which emerged following incessant rainfall over the past two-and-a-half months, remain unrepaired by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). The deteriorating condition of certain roads has been causing inconvenience to motorists, leading to discontent among city residents.City residents have demanded immediate repairs of the roads from the civic administration. On Monday, MNS workers staged an agitation at the NMC headquarters, Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, protesting the civic administration's failure to address the pothole problem.A delegation of the MNS office-bearers, led by state general secretary Dinkar Patil, met NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri and submitted a memorandum requesting immediate road repairs. Khatri assured the delegation that the roads across the city would be repaired immediately. In addition, Khatri held a meeting with department heads on Monday, where she instructed officials from the public works department to expedite road repairs across all six divisions of the city.An NMC official from the public works department said some city roads have already been repaired, while the remaining roads are scheduled for repairs within the next few days.
"The showers have stopped over the past few days, but the NMC is yet to repair the city roads using tar. Potholes have surfaced on most of the city roads in the Panchavati division, posing a risk to motorists. Some stretches of the inner and middle ring roads in the Panchavati division have deteriorated. We want the NMC administration to repair the roads at the earliest," said Subhash Kale, a resident.Another resident, Manoj Malusare, said the civic body filled potholes with murum and macadam, but the road craters resurfaced after the showers. However, after the rain ceased, dust has been accumulating on the roads. "We want the civic body to never use murum to fill up potholes on tar roads. Instead, NMC should use the new technology or cold mix for filling the potholes during the rains," said Malusare.
