Nashik Bengali association celebrates Sawarwati puja
Nashik: A large number of people from across Nashik city attended the Shri Shri Saraswati puja organised by the Nashik Bengali association on Vasant Panchami on Feb 3. This puja was held at Vishwas Garden Club House, Savarkar Nagar. The association had arranged for an in-house cultural programme in the evening to showcase traditional Bengali customs.-bearers of the Nashik Bengali association said the Shri Shri Saraswati puja has been organised by them for the past 11 years, and people from all over the city associated with the puja celebration ensure they make time to attend it. Amitabh Chakraborty, the executive member of the association, said the devi puja began at 7.30 am, which was followed by pushpanjali and other religious rituals. There was bhog prasad in the afternoon and evening as well.An in-house cultural programme was organised in the evening to revive the old Bengali tradition, where many of the members gave musical performances and exhibited their talent in dance, and recitation of poems. Members of the association said with every passing year, more and more people were joining the religious and cultural activities conducted by them.
