MLAs seek zero tolerance measures to improve womens’ safety in Nashik
Nashik: MLAs Devyani Pharande and Seema Hiray called on Nashik police commissioner Sandeep Karnik on Saturday to discuss urgent measures required to enhance the safety of women and girls in the city.The primary objective of the meeting was to address the security environment for women working in the industrial and educational sectors following a string of recent crimes against them. During the meeting, the MLAs proposed the implementation of a zero tolerance policy towards crimes against women."We want zero tolerance regarding crimes against women in the city. To achieve this, we have requested a dedicated helpline for women and widespread public awareness campaigns," Pharande told reporters.Regarding the IT company case, Pharande noted that chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is monitoring the matter closely. Additionally, minister Girish Mahajan also visited Nashik on Friday to take stock of the investigative progress.The MLAs announced that their next step would be meeting district collector Ayush Prasad to verify whether mandatory safety committees for girls and women were functional in schools and workplaces across the district.
