Kids from Bihar to be returned to parents

Nashik: The 59 children the police had taken charge of on Tuesday — from a train at the Manmad and Bhusawal stations — would be handed over to their respective families with the approval of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The are currently in the care of the committee. The five arrested men, who were accompanying these children from Purnia in Bihar to Sangli in Maharashtra, have been remanded in police custody till June 5.
The CWC officials said the children are safe. They are being given food and counselled. Officials of the Women and Child Welfare department are getting in touch with the children’s parents. The parents are being asked to come to Nashik and take their wards.
“We will check where the arrested men were taking the children and for what purpose and other things,” said Ganesh Shinde, who holds additional charge of SP, Government Railway Police, Aurangabad.
