Nashik: The Nashik police have got a laptop that the suspect arrested in the murder case of YCMOU, Nanasaheb Kapadnis, and his doctor son, Amit, had given for formating to an individual. The police are also getting more information about how he had managed to gain confidence of the two deceased.
Kapadnis and Amit were found dead, months after they were reported missing.
Their neighbour, Rahul Jagtap, has been arrested in connection with the murders. Jagtap and the deceased lived in the same residential society in Nashik city.
Investigating officer Sajan Sonawane of the Sarkarwada police station said, “The father-son duo would not usually speak to anyone in their locality. However, they got friendly with the suspect only because, he studied in the private school where Nanasaheb Kapadnis’ wife was principal at that time.
Earlier, police had said that their investigation had revealed that Jagtap had allegedly transferred nearly Rs 97lakh from the accounts of the deceased to those of his manager and then to his own.
Deputy commissioner of police (Zone 1) Amol Tambe said that soon after the news of Jagtap’s arrest broke, a person to whom he had given his laptop for formatting, brought it to the notice of the police and handed over the laptop to them.
Sonawane said, “The murders were planned and executed very thoughtfully. We are going into minute details of the case. The blood stains found in the car used to transport both the suspects to the murder spots have been sent for forensic investigations.”
The officer added that the car used to execute the murders and transport the bodies was procured from Goa. The vehicle registration number plate on the car was also of some other car, said Sonawane.
The police have also found out that the suspect, Jagtap, had been abroad for sometime to pursue a course in finance. There are indications that he led a lavish lifestyle and was idolised by youths of his locality, said Tambe .
