Illegal gambling den busted on Nashik-Gujarat border

busted a

gambling den

along the

Nashik-Gujarat border

recently and booked 15 persons under the

Bombay Prevention of Gambling Act

.

The police also seized various articles related to gambling, which were worth Rs 95,000. According to the rural police, a few days back members of a special force formed by the rural police were patrolling different parts in the tribal region falling under the jurisdiction of Surgana police station. During the patrolling the special team members got a tip-off that some persons were operating a gambling den at Bardipada village along the

Umberthan-Gujarat road

.

Subsequently, the police reached the concerned place and after laying a trap, they detained 15 gamblers playing 'Mutka'.

Those who were booked for gambling were identified as Sachin Bhandari, Pankaj Patil, Lallu Chaudhary, Kisan Padvi, Bachhubhai Gavit, Dnaynubhai Pawar, Minu Gole, Daud Halpati, Jinabhai Kanat, Sujal Tungada, Ketanbhai Gavit, Sukarbhai Chaudhary and Harmesh Athangsingh. Most of the persons booked hailed from Gujarat state. The police are investigating the case further.

, the action against illegal business in the rural parts of the district would continue in the future by the special squad formed by the police to keep vigil on illegal activities.

From time to time the Nashik rural police conduct raids on gambling dens across the district, though it is a challenge to detect such gambling dens in the remote parts of rural district.
