NASHIK: The elections for the post of chairpersons of three ward committees of
Nashik Municipal Corporation
— Satpur, Cidco and
Nashik
Road — were held unopposed on Friday.
Santosh Gaikwad of Shiv Sena has been elected chairperson of the Satpur ward, while Deepak Datir of Shiv Sena and BJP’s Vishal Sangamnere have been elected unopposed as chairpersons of Cidco and Nashik Road ward committees, respectively.
District collector Suraj Mandhare was the presiding officer and announced the election of the three candidates unopposed.
Only one candidate each had filed nominations for Cidco and Nashik Road ward committees on the last day of filing nominations (July 3). Hence, Datir and Sangamnere had already won the election unopposed, but formal announcement was made during the election process on Friday.
There were two candidates in fray for the chairperson’s post in Satpur — Santosh Gaikwad and Hemlata Kandekar. But the latter withdrew her nomination owing to which Gaikwad was declared the winner.
Now, election for the post of chairpersons for Nashik West, Panchavati and Nashik East are to be held on Saturday (July 6).
Two candidates Suman Bhalerao (Nashik East) Sunita Pingle (Panchavati) have already won the elections unopposed. But official announcement will be made on Saturday.
There will be a straight fight between Vatsala Khaire and Vaishali Bhosle for the post of chairperson in the Nashik West ward committee.
