Fadnavis, Uddhav to address NDA leaders tomorrow

: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray would address a select group of about 1,600 BJP and Sena leaders from eight Lok Sabha seats of North Maharashtra at Chopda Lawns here on Sunday.


The event is part of the NDA’s efforts to strengthen the bond among the leaders of the two allies in Ahmednagar, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandubar districts.

Fadnavis and Thackeray are slated to have five such meetings across the state.

During a joint meeting of the district leaders of both parties on Friday, a 15-member committee, headed by district guardian minister Girish Mahajan was formed to organise the event.

“The NDA candidates of the eight Lok Sabha seats, ministers hailing from the region, and senior leaders, MLAs, mayors and zilla parishad presidents would be attending the deliberations,” the NDA leaders said.

The elected members of civic bodies would not be a part of the meeting.

In Friday’s meeting it was decided that leaders and workers of both parties would work in unity to win the Nashik and Dindori seats. Sena minister from outer Malegaon constituency Dada Bhuse was present in the meeting.

“Although there were some differences between the two parties, both BJP and Sena are natural allies. The aims of the two parties are common, to make the country stronger in various sectors. In Nashik, the leaders and cadres of both the parties will go all out to win the seats,” the NDA leaders said.

The NDA combine had won the Nashik and Dindori parliamentary seats in the 2014 elections. While Sena’s Hemant Godse defeated veteran NCP leader Chaggan Bhujbal, BJP’s Harishchandra Chavan defeated NCP’s Bharti Pawar in Dindori.
