Nashik: Various Muslim organisations met assistant commissioner of police Deepali Khanna at the Bhadrakali police station on Thursday and submitted a list of demands, including the closure of liquor shops and bars, for Eid-e-Milad to be celebrated on Sunday.
The meeting was also attended by the officials from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) among others.
Senior police inspector Dattatray Pawar, from Bhadrakali, and Sunil Rohakale, from Mumbai Naka, were also present during the meeting.
Shahar-e-Khatib Hafiz Hisamudding Ashrafi, president of Noori Academy Sayyed Wasim Peerzada and Ejaj Markani of Raja Academy along with others were part of the Muslim delegation.
Peerzada submitted a memorandum to the police saying the organisers have decided to seek cooperation from police and other government agencies to celebrate Eid. “We have requested the police commissioner to keep the liquor shops and bars closed on the day of the procession in areas between Chowk Mandai and Badi Dargah,” he said.
