Nashik: A 25-year-old construction worker died after falling from the fourth floor of a building coming up in the Khodenagar area on Sunday.
An officer from the Mumbai Naka police on Monday said a case of accidental death has been registered.
Senior police inspector, Yuvraj Papki said, “According to preliminary investigation, the contractor or construction supervisor had not taken safety measures against accidents.
The investigation is on and an FIR will soon be registered against the people responsible.”
The deceased has been identified as Amin Shah, a resident of Khodenagar.
At 11am, Shah was working on the fourth floor of the under-construction building, when he apparently lost balance and fell down.
The worker suffered serious injuries on his chest, head and fractured his right leg. The contractor of the building immediately rushed Shah to the Nashik civil hospital. Shah, however, succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment. The police officer said they were in the process of checking if the building contractor took all the necessary safety measures at the construction site.
“If we find any negligence on part of the builder or contractor, then we will register an FIR for causing death due to negligence, punishable under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and take action against the accused,” the officer said.
