NASHIK: The hike in petrol prices by
Rs 3.02 per litre
from Friday midnight has left the vehicle owners in the city furious.
Petrol pump owners said though the motorists were angry to know about the price hike, they went about filling their fuel tanks as usual. The diesel prices, however, remain unchanged.
Tehsin Khan
, a petrol pump owner on
Nashik Road
, said price of regular petrol increased from Rs 74.17 to Rs 77.19, per litre and branded petrol has increased from Rs 76.92 to Rs 79.94 per litre. "There is no increase in price of diesel as the increased VAT has been levied only on petrol," he said.
Khan added that the last revision was less than a week ago when petrol prices were increased by a little over Re 1 per litre.
Jayantilal Lahoti
, another petrol pump owner from Nashik Road area, said, "Vehicle owners did not have time to get their fuel tanks filled. We ourselves came to know about the rise in petrol prices on Saturday morning."
Nonetheless, people have also got used to these hikes within small intervals and they do not make rush to buy petrol as they used to previously. Ravi Godse, an entrepreneur, said, "People are in a fix on how to react with the constant hike in fuel prices. On one hand people are celebrating victory of the
BJP in various parts of the state, on the other the same people do not know how they should be reacting to such decisions of the government."
He added, "Opposition parties too are also not staging any significant agitation due to which the government is taking one-sided decisions." Many vehicle owners said they would have to bear with the hike as there was no other alternative.
