Nashik: Nashik municipal commissioner
Ramesh Pawar
suspended a staffer of the civic body-managed
Citizens Facilitation Centre
(CFC) for allegedly misappropriating funds of around Rs 15 lakh.
Pawar told TOI that the erring staffer, who was attached to the CFC under the
Nashik Road
division, used the computer password of another CFC that was closed during the Covid pandemic.
“He collected the amount from the taxpayers and using the password of the closed CFC, gave receipts to them. However, the NMC’s software did not register that collected amount since that CFC was closed. Instead of depositing the money, he pocketed it and
NMC
suffered financial loss,” said Pawar.
He has ordered an internal probe by the senior authorities. “The staffer siphoned off around Rs 15 lakh but the probe will ascertain if the amount is more than that. The probe will also ascertain if anybody else is involved,” said Pawar adding that a police complaint will be registered against the staffer.
Meanwhile, the Nashik municipal commissioner on Friday directed the officials concerned to reopen the Phalke Memorial Park for the public soon. The directives came during his visit to
Phalke Park
on Friday morning.
