Nashik: Cash and articles worth over Rs 8 lakh were stolen in two house break-ins in Adgaon and Indiranagar areas between Feb 10 and 11. In Adgaon, unidentified suspects broke into a closed house and stole cash and jewellery worth Rs 3.9 lakh. In the other case in Indiranagar, cash and jewellery worth over Rs 5 lakh were stolen.

As per the complaint registered by a 38-year-old transporter and resident of Amrutdham, Panchavati, he and his family members went to a relative's engagement on Feb 10. Before leaving the house, they ensured that they locked the entire house properly.However, sometime between 11am and 5.30 pm, some unidentified person entered their house, broke the lock of the safety door and the main door, and stole cash and jewellery worth Rs 3.9 lakh that were kept in the bedroom. Among the stolen items included cash of Rs 20,000 and gold and silver jewellery, including earrings, gold chains, and silver ornaments for children. The Adgaon police are investigating the case.In the other FIR registered with the Indiranagar police, cash and other articles worth over Rs 5 lakh were stolen from the house of a businessman at Modkeshwar Chowk, Indiranagar. The complainant said that the theft occurred between 11.30 am on February 11 and 5 am on February 13, when he and his family members were away.
The complainant said that the unidentified burglar entered his bungalow from the rear entrance of the house by breaking the safety door and stole cash of Rs 2.25 lakh and other gold jewellery, all worth over Rs 5 lakh. House break-ins are a major menace in the city, with 500 to 600 thefts occurring every year.
