NASHIK: The Panchavati police have arrested two persons for stealing music systems from eight cars in Mhasrool on April 22. They were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days on Monday.
The two accused were identified as Wasim Samiulla Khan (21), a Wadnagar resident and Sanjay Khanpate (27), who lives in Mhasobhawadi in Mhasrool.
They were nabbed from their homes after the police got a tip-off that the duo used to steal music systems from cars.
The police recovered seven music systems and two batteries from them, police inspector N K Pingle said.
Pingle said that Wasim Samiulla Khan runs a small garage, while the other accused, Khanpate, used to work in a liquor shop. Sanjay Khanpate has been involved in petty thefts in the past.
In the April 22 incident, the duo had cut the window panes of the cars to steal the music systems worth Rs 53,000. Similar thefts of music systems from cars were also registered with the Bhadrakali and Indiranagar police stations.
