Bodies of four students who drowned brought out
Nashik: Bodies of all the four college students, who drowned in Trimbakeshwar taluka on Sunday afternoon, were fished out by the volunteers on Monday by around 12.30 pm, tehsildar Ganesh Jadhav said. The deceased were identified as Virendra Patil (20) and Aditya Wanare (20) who drowned in Vaitarna Dam backwater near Zarwad village. The other two, who drowned in Dugarwadi waterfall near Wavi Harsh village, were identified as Manish Chavan (21) and Atharva Gosavi (22) — both residents of Nashik city."Two different groups of students went to separate waterbodies in the taluka to beat the heat. In both the cases, at distinct places, the deceased ventured deep into water and failed to gauge the depth, leading to their drowning. After we got information about the accidents, several teams of volunteers were pressed into service. The search and rescue operation had to be paused owing to bad light," said Jadhav. The bodies of those at Zawad village were fished out by 9.30am, but searching for the two in Dugarwadi was a tedious job. "We had to bring in a scuba diver from Pune to search for the other two. After being located at 12.30pm, they were fished out and brought up to height of 150feet using a zipline at 4pm," said Jadhav.
