NASHIK

: As many as 43 Indian Army officers were on Saturday awarded the coveted Aviation Wings, to become combat helicopter pilots after having successfully completed the Combat Aviators Course.

The ceremony took place at the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) at the Gandhi Nagar Airfield, Nashik Road. It is a premier flying training institution of the Indian Army, functioning under the aegis of Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Shimla.

Further, seven officers from the Army Aviation Corps were also awarded with the Aviation Instructor Badge for successfully qualifying the aviation helicopter instructor course.

The ceremony was presided over by Major General A K Suri, Additional Director General and Army Aviation.

During the course, the officers underwent rigorous flying training. Officers who showcased outstanding performance in various disciplines were awarded with trophies to acknowledge their achievements.

Amongst the trophy winners of the combat aviators course was Captain Anuj Rajput, who won the Silver Cheetah trophy for standing first in overall order of merit. He also won the Captain S K Sharma trophy in flying.

Captain Amit Singh won the Air Observation Post-35’ Trophy for securing the first place in ground subjects and the Fledgling trophy for standing first in Pre-Army Pilot Course.

Captain P K Gour got the trophy for Best in Gunnery was awarded to Captain Ankit Ahuja.

Further, Major Aditya Jain won the Pradeep Agarwal Memorial trophy for standing first in overall order of merit in the Aviation Instructor Course. In the same course, Major A Goswami won the ‘Best in Flying’ trophy and Best in Airborne Instructional Technique trophy while Major Aditya Jain won the Best in Ground Subjects’ trophy. The ceremony was marked with a combat demonstration by the mainstay aircrafts of the Army Aviation Corps. The display was the high point of the event and gave a glimpse of the daring and challenging tasks undertaken by the aviators of the Army Aviation Corps.
