4 teachers & 75 students with disability honoured by NAB

Nashik: The National Association for the Blind (NAB) Maharashtra unit on Saturday felicitated four teachers, two of them visually-impaired, and 75 meritorious visually-challenged students for outstanding their achievements.The NAB is dedicated to all-round development of visually impaired, multi-disabled children and annually felicitates people and organisations working for the blind, blind teachers and students for their achievements and contribution.Parmanand Hiraman Tirkani of Anand Andha Vidyalaya (Anandavan, Warora district, Chandrapur) and Chandrakant Shivshankar Kumbhar of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial School for the Blind (Solapur) were given the Ideal Teachers’ Award for their services to the visually-impaired children.Similarly, Dashrath Pandurang Kadam Zilla Parishad East Secondary School Guhagar, Ratnagiri and Bharat Hemraj Parewal (multi-disabled), Chandrabhagabai Narsingdas Chandak Multi-Handicapped School (Satpur, Nashik) were felicitated for their contribution to the disabled children.Two institutes, National Association for the Blind, Kolhapur branch and The Pune School and Home for the Blind Trust, Koregaon Park, Pune were among the organisations feted by the organisation.A programme was organised at NAB Unit at Satpur, Nashik to felicitate recipients at the hands of Vijay Maheshwari, vice-chancellor, Kaviyatri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.Addressing the gathering, Maheshwari underlined the manner in which the NAB was serving not only the visually-impaired but also multi-disabled students to excel in their lives and also recognising the efforts of teachers in making the children become self-reliant.NAB president Rameshwar Kalantri presided over the programme while Mukteshwar Munshettiwar, chairman of the award committee, Gopi Mayur, NAB honorary secretary, Ashok Bang, vice president, and others were present.
