NASHIK: The
Nashik
rural water supply department has acquired 32 private wells in its jurisdiction to tackle the water shortage in the villages in summer.
Senior officials of the Nashik Zilla Parishad said that the wells have been acquired to supply water to villages facing shortage. The water would be transported to other villages through tankers.
The officials said that 10 wells have been acquired in
Baglan
, seven in
Peth
taluka, four each in Nandgaon and Surgana, two each in Trimbak and Sinnar, and one each in Dindori, Malegaon and Yeola.
Purushottam Bhandekar
, the executive engineer of the rural water supply department, said, “We are make all the efforts to ensure that there is no scarcity of drinking water anywhere. Private wells have been acquired to provide water to the adjoining villages or to transport water to other places via tankers.”
At present, 49 water tankers are making 133 rounds tyo take water to various parched villages across the rural district.
A maximum of 16 tankers have been deployed in Yeola, followed by eight in Baglan, six each in Peth, Surgana and Sinnar, three in Chandwad, one each in Deola and Igatpuri, and two in the Malegoan taluka.
The officials added that in the near future, a few more wells would be acquired if the need arises and tankers would also be added.
As of now, the rural water supply department is supplying water through 35 private water tankers and 14 government tankers.
