Nashik: Three schoolchildren escaped with minor injuries after the van they were travelling in collided with a pickup vehicle in the Tapovan area of the city on Monday morning.
Irfan Shaikh, the senior inspector of the Adgaon police station, confirmed the
accident but added that no one has approached the police yet.
“There were 12 students from different schools travelling in the van.
Three of them, aged between 10 and 12 years, reportedly suffered minor injuries in the accident. So far, no one has come to register a complaint in this regard,” said Shaikh.
The accident took place around 7am near Digambar Akhada in the Tapovan area of Panchavati.
The school van was carrying students from the Bidi Kamgarnagar area. While the van was crossing the area near the Digambar Akhada, a vegetable-loaded pickup vehicle, which was coming from the Jail Road side, collided with it.
The police said people rushed to the accident spot and took the injured children to a nearby hospital.
When the police reached the incident site, the residents of the area put up a demand to install a speedbreaker near the accident spot.
The police explained to the residents that there is a procedure to set up speedbreakers that must be followed. They said the residents would have to make an application to the civic administration and the traffic police for the same. The police personnel on the spot said they too would prepare a proposal in this regard and send it to the departments concerned.
Talking about the accident, police officers said if someone comes forward with a complaint, they would get it registered.
