25 parking lots likely to start ops in a month

: Citizens can soon bid adieu to their parking woes as the civic administration is working relentlessly to finish the remaining works at the parking lots that have been identified at 33 locations across the city.


Trials are being conducted at ten parking lots which are currently under observation and will start full-fledged operations in a few days. Display boards have been erected at the parking lots to inform people about the availability of space for parking four-wheelers and two-wheelers. Another 15 parking lots are expected to start functioning in a month.

Demonstrations are underway at B D Bhalekar Ground, Jyoti Stores to Gangapur Naka, Guruji Hospital to Pipeline Road, Gangapur Naka to Jehan Circle to Guruji Hospital, Pramod Mahajan Garden, Sadhu Waswani Road and Anna Shastri Hospital.

Currently, parking facilities are being worked out on Canada Corner to Vise Mala, Shraddha petrol pump to Westside mall, Kulkarni garden to BSNL office, behind Kulkarni garden, Model Colony chowk to Bhonsala gate, Jehan Circle to ABB Circle, HDFC chowk to MSEB office, Canada Corner to Panasonic gallery and Thatte Nagar Road (from College Road to Gangapur Road).

The smart city cell has planned 28 locations for on- street and five for off-street parking, all of which will be equipped with sensors.

The smart parking facilities will be centrally monitored through Intelligent Traffic Management System. The ITMS will be able to monitor traffic menace, signal violation and illegal parking. The data captured by the cameras will be sent to a single control and command centre which will monitor traffic.
