2 Sai Baba devotees mowed down near Sinnar

Nashik: Two Sai devotees from Dahisar, aged 23 and 30 years, who were walking from Mumbai to Shirdi died after being hit by a speeding bus around 5.45 am Tuesday at the Musalgaon Phata on the Sinnar-Shirdi highway. The deceased have been identified as Sanjay Jadhav and Mahesh Singh. They were part of a group of around 150 devotees walking to Shirdi. The MIDC police said that while one of them died on the spot, the other succumbed on his way to the Sinnar Rural hospital. Though the bus driver fled the accident spot, the MIDC police gathered information from other people and traced the bus to Shirdi. The police said the driver has been arrested for an offence punishable under IPC section 304-A (causing death due to negligence). Further investigation is on.
