Nashik: The Adgaon police have detained a 16-year-old teenager from the city and recovered three stolen motorcycles from him.
A release from the Adgaon police station states that a week back, on a complaint, they had registered an FIR for the vehicle theft offence, punishable under sections of the IPC. The complainant in the case had alleged that his bike worth Rs 25,000 was stolen from the Godavari Bridge area.
During the investigation, the detection branch team of the Adgaon police started checking the CCTV footage of the area and alerted their informers. Subsequently, they got a tip-off about a person who had stolen the bike.
The police reached his house and found the bike in the possession of a 16-year-old teenager. The police also found two more bikes, all worth Rs 75,000.
While complaints of two-vehicle thefts have been registered in the different police stations, the Adgaon police are trying to find the owner of the third bike through the chassis number.
Irfan Shaikh, senior PI of Adgoan police station, said that juvenile’s parents are daily wage workers. He did not have any handler and committed the thefts on his own by combining certain wires of bikes that did not have handle locks.
