NAGPUR: Gittikhadan police nabbed a 21-year-old youth for allegedly travelling with sharp weapons in the wee hours of Monday. Shaikh Amir Shaikh Qasim had made special provision in the cavity below the seat of his two-wheeler where the weapons were kept.
Amir, who was spotted by the patrolling cops under mysterious circumstances, was driving his two-wheeler at top speed.
The cops, under assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kewalram Badge, chased Amir before intercepting him on the road near Nirmal Ganga Apartment.
The cops initially told Amir to produce documents of the two-wheeler. Police started grilling him after realising that he had no valid documents. During the course of checking, the police squad comprising constable Sudhir Gajbhiye, Yogiraj Kokate and others opened the seat of the two-wheeler and found two sharp weapons.
Police said that it is not clear why Amir was carrying the weapons with him. Amir has been working as a contract painter. Police feel that he must be connected to criminal activities. "We are questioning Amir to find out his networks and from where he procured the weapons," said senior inspector NR Dambelkar.
