A graduate in Arts, she was arrested by the Pachpaoli police team for theft. Police have recovered gold worth ₹1.23 lakh from her possession.

The woman, who befriended a man from a matrimonial site, was enamoured by his wedding vow. He subsequently began demanding money from her from time to time on the pretext of meeting various expenses of marriage.

Living in the fantasy of a happy married life, she kept on transferring cash to his account till she was on the verge of bankruptcy. The man, however, did not keep his promise and left the woman broke and emotionally shattered.

Desperate to earn back her lost money, the woman ended up stealing gold and valuables of a neighbour in the vicinity of her Adarsh Nagar residence late last month. The victim came to know about the theft in first week of September.

Before approaching police, the victim tried to search for valuables but later approached senior Inspector Baburao Raut of Pachpaoli police station. Raut said the cops had interrogated the domestic help, cook, and several relatives and friends of the victims but nothing came to the fore.
