Love, betrayal & crime: Looted by beau, woman becomes thief in Nagpur
The woman, who befriended a man from a matrimonial site, was enamoured by his wedding vow. He subsequently began demanding money from her from time to time on the pretext of meeting various expenses of marriage.
Living in the fantasy of a happy married life, she kept on transferring cash to his account till she was on the verge of bankruptcy. The man, however, did not keep his promise and left the woman broke and emotionally shattered.
Desperate to earn back her lost money, the woman ended up stealing gold and valuables of a neighbour in the vicinity of her Adarsh Nagar residence late last month. The victim came to know about the theft in first week of September.
Before approaching police, the victim tried to search for valuables but later approached senior Inspector Baburao Raut of Pachpaoli police station. Raut said the cops had interrogated the domestic help, cook, and several relatives and friends of the victims but nothing came to the fore.
“We began suspecting the spinster’s role in the crime as she would often frequent the victim’s house. During interrogation, she broke down and spilled the beans,” said Raut, adding the stolen gold ornaments were also recovered from her.

An octogenarian woman from Mangadu was caught stealing valuables from a house in Kamakshi Amman Nagar. She possessed stolen jewellery, coins, and a notebook with future burglary targets. Neighbours detained her until police arrived. Authorities are investigating her background and mental state.

Found with stolen jewellery and a list of future targets, she was detained by neighbours after the homeowner raised an alarm. Police are investigating and seeking her relatives as she appeared mentally depressed.

A man raped his friend's live-in partner after spiking her drink during a birthday celebration in Kodambakkam. The victim, a college student, filed a complaint with Vadapalani police. The accused, Muthukumar, threatened her and is currently absconding as authorities initiate a search to apprehend him.
