MLAs Raju Karemore and Rajkumar Badole were the only representatives from the Ajit Pawar-led NCP at Smruti Mandir.

It is customary for legislators from the saffron parties to visit the Hedgewar memorial campus during the winter session, but their presence was unprecedented this year.

Their visit assumes importance, especially after RSS actively backed Mahayuti during the state polls and also because the organisation is entering its 100th year in 2025. The legislators paid homage to RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.

Last year, only the then chief minister Eknath Shinde went along with MLAs of both BJP and Shiv Sena to Smruti Mandir.
