Nagpur: An Indian Army jawan Amol Gore, a native of Sonkhas village in Washim district, was martyred while patrolling along the China border in Kameng Valley of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, but not before saving two of his colleagues, reports Chaitanya Deshpande.
According to sources, Gore along with two others was patrolling the treacherous border area in the valley at around 4.30pm when heavy
rain accompanied by strong winds lashed the region triggering flash floods.
The jawans were swept away in a massive stream carrying debris and boulders. Even though Gore got hit on head by a boulder, he saved the fellow jawans from the current. Though a trained swimmer, he could not save himself.
