NAGPUR: Dr Ajay Soni, a pathologist, had a nightmarish experience near RBI square on Sunday when he was harassed by a group of protesters, who also damaged his car. The protesters had assembled at the spot over the serial bomb blasts in the temple city of Bodh Gaya. They ignored Dr Soni's repeated pleas to spare him, as he was heading to an emergency call from a patient's kin.

Dr Soni had received a call from a patient's kin while speaking at an institute of clinical research and training at Dhantoli. He was rushing to Dr Khobragade's hospital at Indora chowk via RBI chowk when the incident took place.
Dr Soni said he was behind some more vehicles and it appeared to him that they would pass through the protesters. "Some policemen were deployed to monitor the protesters, which actually made me feel safe. The barricades were also kept in place. But suddenly, a mob of protesters converged on my car," said Dr Soni.
"I rolled down the car window to speak to them. I specifically told them that they had my support and sympathy for their cause, but I needed to head to the hospital to attend to a patient," said the pathologist. "Despite pleading with them, I saw them breaking the wipers and denting my car," said Soni. He sounded anxious even hours after the incident.
Dr Soni said he was surprised that the cops nearby did not react when the mob was mishandling his car.
