Two vehicle thieves arrested

AMRAVATI: Nagpuri gate police nabbed two vehicle thieves on Sunday and seized seven vehicles from them. Out of the two arrested accused, one was wanted by Wadi police in Nagpur.
Shaikh Arif Shaikh Jawed, a resident of Betul, and Namutulla Khan Aminutulla Khan, a resident of Asi Nagar, were spotted on their bike by Nagpuri gate police during routine patrolling.Police stopped them for questioning but suspected foul play after the two could not produce documents and gave evasive replies. On grilling, the accused confessed that they had stolen seven vehicles from the district, out of which three were stolen from Amravati city while four from Daryapur tehsil.
The accused also revealed that they used to forge documents and sell off the vehicles. Police seized five Hero Honda Splendour bikes, one Bajaj Boxer and one Bajaj Platina from the theft. It is also learnt that three months back, Shaikh Arif Shaikh Javed was arrested by Wadi police in Nagpur and Wadi police had seized three bikes from him. For further investigation, Wadi police had taken him to Khamgaon from where he gave the cops the slip and was absconding since then. Police suspect that a racket may come to fore after the arrest of the duo.
