Two hardened criminals from Bada Tajbagh area were nabbed by residents of Udasa village, 10km from Umrer, when they were trying to snatch ornaments from a teenaged girl on Thursday.

NAGPUR: Two hardened criminals from BadaTajbagh area were nabbed by residents of Udasa village, 10km from Umrer, when they were trying to snatch ornaments from a teenaged girl on Thursday. SayyedAsifSayyed Rashid, 21, and Mohammed ArshadAzhar Sheikh, 23, have several offences of thefts, burglaries and robberies registered against them in Nagpur, Chandrapur and other places.

The 15-year-old girl was going home after filling water. The duo came on a bike stolen from Hudkeshwar. They pulled her chain and then tried to snatch the silver nose ring. The girl raised an alarm attracting attention of some passers-by who rushed to her rescue and nabbed the miscreants. The villagers later handed over the duo to Umrer police.
Umrer police station sub-inspector Nitin Wadte, who is investigation officer in the case, said Asif and Arshad are habitual criminals having records at Hudkeshwar, Nandanvan police stations and Hingna police station in rural. "We are trying to get more details about them from Nagpur city police crime branch," he said.
