Tushar Shukla

slammed a brilliant half-century to guide Bank of India (BOI) to a thumping 40-run victory against Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the Inter-Bank Cricket (Division ‘A’) tournament, organized by the Bankers’ Sports Council, at the Central Railway Ajni ground here on Monday.

With this easy win, BOI emerged champions for the fourth year in succession to continue their domination in the banks tourney.

BOI captain Paresh Sutane won the toss and opted to bat. They put up a strong total of 163 for 4 in their stipulated 20 overs. Shukla did the bulk of the scoring by hammering 65. He sent ball across the ropes for more than a dozen times. He was involved in a fruitful partnership with skipper Sutane, who made 29. Shishir Lambe (23) and Vikram Solanki (15) were the other notable contributors.

Left-arm spinner Manish Dosi was the most successful RBI bowler with 3 for 20. Niraj Gawande chipped in with a solitary wicket.

In reply, RBI struggled from the beginning and were restricted to 124 for 4 in 20 overs. Captain Niraj Gawande, (34), Manish Dosi (33) and Alhad Gunjal (24) tried hard but lacked support from the others.

claimed two wickets, while Sutane and Lambe took a wicket each.
