Tibetans stage protest march against China in Nagpur

NAGPUR: A rally was taken out by Tibetan from Vareity Square to Samvidhan Square in Nagpur on Saturday to mark the 59th anniversary of the failed uprising against Chinese rule in Tibet.
China took control of Tibet in 1950 in what it calls a “peaceful liberation” of the remote, Himalayan region.
An uprising against Chinese rule in Tibet erupted in 1958 and troops crushed it the following year.The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, fled from the crackdown and was granted asylum in India. Dalai Lama has lived mostly in Dharamsala from where he has been advocating autonomy for Tibet by peaceful means.

The March was taken out by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress in which around 100 people participated shouting slogan demanding the end of the Chinese rule over Tibet. They also shouted slogans against China. They were carrying placards with various slogans 'long live Dalai Lama', 'Moist leave India Leave Tibet, Stop all kind of Tortures in Tibet'.

They garlanded the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Nagpur. A copy of the memorandum demanding Support to China’s illegal and brutal occupation of Tibet was submitted to the Prime Minister of India via Collector of Nagpur by Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Norgyeling Tibet Camp.
