AMRAVATI: A gang of thieves looted two shops, broke into a house and fled away with a Scorpio car and pelted stones at two houses on the wee hours of Saturday.
Around 10-12 persons entered the house of ZP member Sangita Thakare at the Shram Safalya colony by breaking the window of her house with the help of screw driver, at around 4.35 am on Saturday.

The miscreants allegedly took the keys of the Scorpio (MH 27 T 007), which was parked near their gate and fled with it.
As the burglars were trying to turn the key of the car, Sangita Thakare realised the presence of strangers in her house after which her husband Anil also woke up. Sangita spotted the thieves. When the miscreants took the car out of her house, Thakare's neighbour Sanjay Giri realising about the theft, immediately switched on the light of his bedroom.
To avoid any impending danger, the thieves started pelting stones on Giri's and Thakare's houses and fled the spot. The police spotted the Scorpio near Gurukunj Mozari on Saturday morning. Before running way with the car, the miscreants had reportedly broken into a jewellery shop in the vicinity and had stolen jewellery worth Rs 50,000, the police said. The thieves also broke into Om Sai Collection and looted cash of 2,200 from the shop.
The police have registered offences under relevant sections of IPC and probing the matter further.
