‘The She Fest 2020’ focuses on women’s empowerment
Nagpur: A two-day women-centric event was organized under the banner of ‘The She Fest 2020’, in association with The Times of India, at a city hotel on Sunday on account of International Women’s Day.
The event revolved around empowerment of women and celebrate the spirit of womanhood. Thousands of women from all spheres of life made their way to the second edition of the unique event and enjoyed interesting activities.
Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari felicitated the winners of ‘Women of Substance’. The winners are lawyer Smita Sarode Singalkar, educationist Vrundan Bawankar, executive member of the Nagpur district branch of Indian Red Cross Society Hemlata Lohave, founder of Ye Zindagi Foundation Snehal Kashyap and educationist and founder of Zero Gravity Maitreyi Jichkar.
These women, who stood out among the crowd, were commemorated for their bravery, hard work and confidence in bringing about a change in the society.
Gadkari appreciated the handicraft and handloom stalls and said, “Various government schemes will help provide jobs to at least 20,000 women across India this year.”
‘Cerebral Beauty Pageant’, a one-of-its kind segment, was organized in which women of all age groups participated and were judged on their intelligence, smartness and confidence. Breaking stereotypes, the pageant looked beyond physical appearance and celebrated the inner beauty of the individuals.
Stalls were put up by women entrepreneurs. An attractive bridal jewellery show was held by Tanishq on the first day.
Information about Udyog Aadhaar card was given where entrepreneurs can buy a stall at an exhibition at a subsidized rate.
The programme was the brainchild of four dynamic women entrepreneurs — Monica Bhagwagar, Jyoti Kapoor, Neeta Singh and Parveen Tuli.
Informative sessions were also held, addressing the day-to-day life issues faced by women. Experts from medical fraternity, civil services and fitness industry were among the speakers.
‘The She Fest’ was also supported by the Nagpur branch of MSME Development Institute of the government of India.
