Class 10 boy ends life after mother asks about tuition fees

Nagpur: A 15-year-old student of Class 10 allegedly died by suicide at his residence at Teen Mundi Chowk in Sadar. The deceased, identified as Rudraksh Meshram, took the drastic step on Tuesday, said police.Police did not find any suicide note, and the boy did not possess a mobile phone, making it difficult to ascertain the exact reason behind Rudraksh's decision to end life. However, police feel the mother's attempt to question him about the money she had given him to pay tuition fee could be one of the reasons. Rudraksh, who had an examination on Wednesday, was given Rs1,500 by his mother as tuition fee. The family later learned that Rudraksh gave Rs1,000 to the tuition teacher, but there was no explanation regarding where the remaining Rs500 was spent. When his mother questioned him about this, Rudraksh had no reply, said police adding that the boy was later found hanging from the ceiling fan with his mother's saree. Police said Rudraksh's father works with a transportation company. The family rushed the boy to a private hospital in Sadar, from where he was referred to the Mayo Hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. The Sadar police have registered the case as accidental death.
