Teaching is a duty towards nation building: VK Singh

NAGPUR: The sixth edition of the 3-day International Principals’ Education Conference (IPEC) ended on Wednesday with the heads of institutions working on different methods to create ‘happy minds’ in the classroom. The organizations also awarded principals who submitted the best write-ups about positive changes they plan to implement in their schools.
Chief guest VK Singh, minister of state for external affairs and North-East, said, “Teachers, especially principals, play a major role in the students’ life as the former are responsible for the time a child spends in an institution.Hence the faculty must not only teach lessons related to syllabus but also life lessons and its subsequent impact on one’s life. It is important for teachers to not think of teaching as a job but as a duty towards building the future leaders of the coming generation.”
The winners of the Nachiketa award for best principals were Anita Sharma of Centre Point School, Vandana Paul of School of Scholars (Hudkeshwar), Bhakta Bobde of Centre Point School (Dhaba), Vivekanand Singh Solanki of Bhavan’s (Srikrishna Nagar), Rajshree Sharma of South Point School (Omkar Nagar), Salima Jeevaji of JN Tata Parsee School, Manish Salunke of South Point School (Omkar Nagar), Mili Datta of Modern School, Parvati Iyer of Bhavan’s (Trimurti Nagar), Kanika Anand of Royal Gondwana Public School and Nutan Jamil of School of Scholars, Atrey Layout.
The winners of the Super Nachiketa awards were Sumathi Venugopalan of Centre Point School (Wardhaman Nagar) and Sheetal Ahuja of Vision International School of Excellency (Ankaleshwar).
Dr Vikas Amte, secretary of Maharogi Seva Samiti, said, “It must be the mission for all the stakeholders, be it government, officials or a citizen of the country, to provide education to all and help them gain knowledge at least about the basic education.”
Amte added, “One of the most important feature of education is that it empowers the downtrodden and the disabled. It helps an individual lead a dignified life and hence its value cannot be underestimated. Thus teaching is one of the noblest profession and everyone should be proud of the work of a teacher.”
Mrunalini Dasture, convener of IPEC and principal of South Point School, said, “Students are the torchbearers of a better future and educating them is one the foremost priority for a developed country. Lots of work went into deciding the theme aiming to provide exemplary education to the children along with activities that do not stress the minds and balances the study-play equation. The conference provided the principals with a platform to discuss ideas and share their perspective on different medium to enhance the overall development of children and prove a state of the art education.”
