Speaking on ‘Vinda: Aaswad aani shodh’, organized by Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh as part of the birth centenary celebrations of the Jnanpith award recipient commencing on August 23, Lakhe said his works reflected various layers of human emotions and social concerns. He wrote extensively on beauty of nature, love, struggles of life and socio-economic issues.

According the Lakhe, Vinda was a wise man with great foresight and therefore his write-ups are applicable and relatable even today.

“Each piece of his art made him climb stiles of maturity and intelligence and eventually earned him bag the Jnanpith award. His famous collection of poems include Swedganga, Mrudgandha,

Dhrupad

and Jatak. His collection of short essays like Sparshachi Palav and Akashacha Arth not only show his unique style of thinking but also his sharp wit,” Lakhe said.

One of the reasons why Lakhe was strongly attracted towards Vinda’s philosophy was that the legendary writer kept ‘human’ at the pinnacle of priority pyramid. His works speak volumes about his natural attributes of kindness, compassion and generosity.

Lakhe said, “Vinda wrote many poems for children, different from traditional nursery rhymes. He showed good understanding of their little world of imagination, innocence and their thought process. These mystical, humorous and unique ideas can be found in popular collections like Ranichi Baag, Ekda Kaay Jhale, Ajabkhana, Sarkaswala and Pari Ga Pari.”
