Senior RSS man critical after accident

NAGPUR: The condition of senior RSS functionary 75-year-old Anant Vyavhare continued to remain critical on the second day of his hospitalization at OCHRI. He was hit by a car at Sawarkar Nagar square. He was driving a Luna.

Dr Anup Marar, medical director at OCHRI, told TOI his condition was critical and he was on ventilator. The treating doctor, Dr Shailendra Anjankar, neurosurgeon said that his small and mid-brain was affected badly.

“He is suffering from axonal head injury in which neurons or nerve cells had broken. There are small clots in his brain which are not operable. He is intubated and on ventilator. Tomorrow we will try to remove ventilator to see if he can breathe on his own,” he said.

Rajesh Loya, Mahanagar Sanghchalak of RSS, said though Vyavhare was 75, he worked like a 25-year-old. “He attends shakha every morning, meets 15-20 persons every day and teaches children. Being a Vedic mathematics expert, he promotes it among children. He is a man of principles,” Loya said.

“He always drives Luna very carefully and does all his work on his own. He never had an accident before. He was going to pay electricity bill when the accident happened. The car driver fled from the scene. I pray for his speedy recovery,” said Loya.
