Singers showcase glimpses of the past at music show
Nagpur: Glimpses of the past were depicted at the musical programme ‘Guzra Hua Zamana’, organized by Samvedana Group of Music at Arpan Sabhagruh of Vidarbha Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Sitabuldi, on Saturday.
Singers Sushma Bhagat and Bhanukumar Raut engaged the audience by presenting popular songs from Bollywood movies from 1950 to 1970.
The programme began on an auspicious note with ‘Itni shakti hame dena data’, an invocation to God. This was followed by romantic songs like ‘Ashkon ne jo paaya hai’, ‘Chheda mera dil ne tarana’, ‘Lag jaa gale’, ‘Oh re taal mile nadi jalme’ and ‘Aakhon pe bharosa mat’.
Songs ‘Jeevan ke safar me raahi’, ‘Yeh kisne geet chheda’, ‘Na tum humein jaano’ and ‘Likha hai teri aakhon mein’, ‘O dildaar bolo ek baar’, ‘Jhoom jhoom dhalti raat’ and ‘Tadbeer se bigdi hui takdeer bana le’ entertained the listeners and made them hum along with the singers.
Presentation of ‘Raat suhani jaag rahi hai’, ‘Kali ghata chhayi mora’, ‘Subah naa aayi shaam naa aayi’, ‘Koi humdum na raha’, ‘Jalte hain jiske liye’, ‘Guzra hua zamana aata nahin dobara’, ‘Dil ki girah khol do’, ‘Nigahen milane ko jo’ and ‘O sajna barkha bahar aayi’ had the audience in thrall.
The programme, conceptualized by Sushma Bhagat, was hosted by Ashok Uvare and Prashant Khadse.
Accompanying artistes Prashant Khadse (synthesizer), Lekhraj Wanjari (guitar), Vinod Pande (sound), Ashok Thavre (octopad) and Prashil Bobde (tabla) showed their skills that made the programme memorable.
QUOTES
The programme was amazing. However, I think that there should have been more singers so that the two performers would not have been required to sing continuously

I am a fan of Bollywood music. The singers did full justice to the songs they presented and took us to the golden era of music. The accompanying artistes were excellent
