Singers recreate aura of actor Shashi Kapoor at music show
Singer Vijay Chimote presents ‘Unforgettable melodies of Shashi Kapoor’, at Scientific Hall, Laxmi Nagar, on Friday
NAGPUR: ‘Diamonds Forever’, a programme of music based on the songs featuring evergreen actor Shashi Kapoor, turned out to be a foot-tapping experience for the audience as singers created the aura of the late legend who swayed generations on the silver screen, at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar, on Saturday.
The show, organized by Shri Siddhivinayak Publicity, was conceptualized by Samir Pandit to pay tributes to Shashi Kapoor for his exemplary contribution to India cinema, as an actor and producer of films rich in content.

The programme began with ‘Bhare bhare panghat pe’, rendered by Shreya Kharabe, in her sweet voice. She also presented ‘Megha chhaye aadhi raat’ and ‘Yeh sama’.
Sarang Joshi sang ‘Suhani chandni raatein’ and ‘Paradesiyon se na’, hit numbers filmed on the actor.
Sagar Madhumatke enthralled the audience with ‘Ek rasta hain zindagi’ and ‘Ghungaroo ki tarah,’ ‘Kaise kahe hum pyar ne’, ‘Tum bin jau kaha’ and ‘Le jayenge le jayenge dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge’, the song that continues to be played during marriages.
Vijay Chivande rendered popular songs ‘Likhe jo khat tujhe’ and ‘Chanchal shital’.
Duets like ‘Bekhudi main sanam’, ‘Waada karo nahi chhodogi’, ‘Khilte hai gool yaha’, ‘Nisultana re’, ‘Baaho main teri masti’, ‘Ek daal par tota bole’, ‘
Mohabbat bade kaam ki’, ‘Kehdu tumhe ya chup rahu’, ‘Kya mausam hai’, ‘Jaanu meri jaan’ and ‘Raat baki baat baki’ were also presented.
The accompanying artistes were Raja Rathod and Pawan Manvatkar (keyboard), Nandu Gohane (octopad), Prakash Chavhan (guitar), Prashant Nagmote (tabla) and Pankaj Yadav (dholak).
Nasir Khan was the anchor of the show.
