Siblings thrown off Bridge after car rams their scooter during Holi revelry

NAGPUR: A brother and his sister were thrown off the Pachpaoli bridge when a car collided with their scooter during Holi celebrations on Monday.

The siblings, Irfan Shaikh and his sister, were heading home at Teka after picking her up from Mominpura when the accident occurred.

The siblings were seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. The driver of the car, suspected to be intoxicated, caused the collision, said police.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car crashed into the scooter, sending the siblings over the bridge and onto the road below. While bystanders rushed them to the hospital, the driver was apprehended and handed over to the police.
Members of the minority community, who had thronged the Pachpaoli police station, demanded strict action against the driver, leading to his arrest.

The incident has sparked concerns about road safety and the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.
