Amravati:Shri Shivaji Education Society, founded by late Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh, is all set to celebrate the 117thebirth anniversary of its founder with a slew of programmes starting from December 18 and culminating on December 27. Addressing a press conference Tuesday, president of the society, advocate Arun Shelke said that the programmes have been arranged to promote Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh’s thoughts on agriculture and education.
The programme includes lecture series, health services, agriculture camps, sports and cultural events. These activities will instill vitality in Shiv Parivar, he said.
Stating that the main programme will be attended by union minister
Nitin Gadkari on December 27, Shelke said that guardian minister Pravin Pote, Mayor Charanjitkaur Nanda, MP Anand Adsul and MLA Dr. Sunil Deshmukh will also be present. Various prizes, medals and awards will be presented to principals, teachers, non-teaching staff and meritorious students, he added.
In the 150 acre land in Popad, the birthplace of Deshmukh, that the society has, Shelke said that they hope to establish an agriculture college. He also added that the society was planning to prepare a vision document when it completes its centenary in 2032.
