When it comes to quick getaways, heading to the popular jungles nearby is an obvious choice for Nagpurians. All set up to make the most of the first long weekend of the year — Republic Day weekend — a student of Smt Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture,

Vaibhavi Kale

, will be spending some quality time with her family and friends in the wilds. She says, “We’ve been planning this trip for the past few months now and fortunately R-Day falls on a Friday this time. As I’m a passionate wildlife photographer, I thought going for a jungle safari will be a perfect way to spend my long weekend. I’m looking forward to capture some of the wildlife beauties at Kanha National Park.”

Another wildlife enthusiast and a student of DAIMSR,

Ankit Bansod

, is going to Pench jungles to rejuvenate in the lap of nature on R-Day. He adds, “My friends who are working in Mumbai and Pune are joining me on this three-day trip. The idea is to have a quiet retreat away from the bustling city life.”

To escape the scorching heat of Nagpur in April- May, young educationist,

Urmi Chakraborty Mittra

has chosen a hill station to ring in her wedding anniversary, which is on May 1. “My husband Satyajit and I along with our year-old daughter will be heading to Manali during a long weekend that falls around Maharashtra day. We have planned our trip in such a manner that we’ll just have to take two days leave at work. In fact, we have already booked our flight tickets and hotel rooms,” says she.

A young entrepreneur Rajat Rajani, who has also marked his calendar for a long weekend in March end says, “I was eagerly waiting for the long weekends’ list. My friend and I will embark on the Himalayan trek to Kedarkantha in Uttarakhand. River rafting and sightseeing are also included in our long weekend itinerary.”
